Janney is a writer, computational modeler, musician, and Taylor Swift enthusiast. She hails from the mountains of West Virginia, but has lived in Kentucky, Ohio, and Chicago. She graduated from Oberlin College in 2012 and has done programming and development for the STAY Project (Stay Together Appalachian Youth), a network of young people from Appalachia who are working together to advocate for and participate in their home mountain communities (those were probably words in a grant she wrote).
